Artist Statement I have been passionate about art since I was a kid. Especially when using drawing to capture the details of an actual building on a sheet of paper, I would get a very strong sense of satisfaction. Besides, if I engage in a construction drawing for the art class exam, I usually get the highest grade. In addition, I have been interested in architecture, influenced by my father, a brilliant architect. I witnessed the completion of a hospital that my father was responsible for designing and constructing, which inspired me to delve deeper into the design and exploration of architectural principles and purposes. I previously thought that a good building only needed to be attractive enough on the outside, but now I am thinking more about the elements and structures that stabilize and make a building functional. After I arrived in the US, I met many friends who were into anime, which motivated me to continue to hone my drawing skills. Later, I started an anime club, taught my members to practice drawing, and started to learn 3D modeling. In the summer of 2022, I attended a summer program at CMU. During the six weeks, the other students and I created architecture projects involving modeling, drawing, and brainstorming, and I was able to master the use of 3D model software and Photoshop, as well as improve my collaborative skills. This program provided me with a pleasant summer as well as a direction for my future profession; I will major in design throughout my college years.
