I make art because I enjoy the challenge and experience of making it. I’ve been around art all my life. I mostly work with drawing and painting, though I do like to explore other mediums. I often draw figures and objects, sometimes I draw myself.
I enjoy doing still lifes and realistic drawings. They’re challenging and fun. It’s rewarding to take something in real life and translate it onto paper. I always enjoy the process of getting the values and form right to reflect the lighting and shape of what I’m drawing. On the other hand, I love to make abstract pieces too.
I often don’t have a theme in mind or have every aspect planned out when I start a piece. Once I begin, I improvise and respond to what I do. There isn’t really a formula to it, especially in more abstract pieces. Many of them are a reflection or exploration of myself, what’s going on in my head, or my relation to the world around me.
