My work is centered around the feeling of nostalgia, childhood memories, and the city of Philadelphia. Every one of my pieces includes a location, person, or object that has been particularly significant to me. A good portion of my work features Nantucket, a place that I have spent the majority of my summers since childhood. I create a feeling of nostalgia by utilizing muted colors, florals, and loose, expressive brushwork. My color scheme is centered around muted pinks, blues, and greens. I consider myself an expressionist, responding to the feeling of my subject with loose gestural strokes that evoke emotion. My favorite mediums include both acrylic and oil paint, watercolor, and fine liner pens. Recently, I’ve been utilizing texture, adding 3D elements to 2-dimensional work, and incorporating texture into landscapes. In the future, I intend to continue to pursue work with 3D and texturized elements in order to evoke the feeling of wistfulness and childhood nostalgia.
